Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, based in Seattle, seeks a Per Diem Lab Technologist to perform high-complexity testing and support PCR, sequencing, and instrument maintenance. The role includes training, SOP drafting, and collaboration with supervisory staff.

Qualified candidates will have a relevant bachelor’s degree, CLIA high-complexity credentials, and PK/TDM testing experience; per diem shifts are Wednesday through Saturday with potential additional days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or equivalent education.
• Must meet CLIA high-complexity education requirements.
• Certification as MT/MLS (ASCP/AMT) or MB(ASCP).

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, or audit Busulfan or PGx test results when supervisor is absent.
• Lead projects and validations of equipment, reagents, and processes.
• Validate laboratory-developed reagents including controls and standards.
• Draft SOPs and assist with new techniques validation.
• Perform DNA extraction, PCR setup, real-time PCR, and sequencing reactions.
• Operate GCMS/LCMS instruments and QuantStudio; basic maintenance.
• Train new staff, students, and residents in procedures; provide feedback.
• Manage inventory and organize supplies; rotate stock as needed.
