Job summary

DesertWillow in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for part-time/per diem roles to provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise nursing assistants in a long-term care setting. The role emphasizes adherence to current federal, state, and local standards, and to facility policies.

You will administer medications, document care, and coordinate with physicians, ensuring quality resident care and proper documentation.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
• Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.
• Review and revise department policies, procedures, and job descriptions as needed.
• Plan shifts' services, programs, and activities with the nursing staff and support personnel.
• Maintain Nursing Service Procedures Manual and ensure compliance with its procedures.
• Cooperate with other resident services to coordinate nursing care and ensure the resident's total regimen is maintained.
• Complete accident/incident reports and forward to the Administrator as required.
• Chart nurses' notes, transcribe orders, and ensure accurate documentation in resident records.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered, verify resident identity, and manage narcotics records.
• Participate in staff development, provide leadership, and conduct regular rounds to monitor performance.
• Escort residents as needed, participate in discharge planning, and communicate with physicians regarding changes in condition.
• Implement and maintain infection control, safety procedures, and documentation practices.
• Ensure that residents' care plans are followed and that care is delivered by qualified personnel.
