Job summary

IDEXX is seeking a per diem/casual Laboratory Technician to perform diagnostic tests and operate lab equipment in our Elmhurst, IL reference laboratory. You will work with automated analyzers, microscopes, and other tools to support veterinarians in diagnosing and treating pets.

Training is provided, and the role emphasizes teamwork and precision. The position is per diem with flexible hours; prior lab experience is a plus, but not required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
• Veterinary Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician experience is a plus.
• Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab equipment is favored.

Responsibilities

• Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other tools to perform analyses supporting veterinary care.
• Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or biopsy samples received in the lab.
• Set up and run lab tests; read and release results per SOPs.
• Specialize in an assigned department and explore related roles.
