Job summary

NSHS is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II - Per Diem to support the Glenbrook Hospital laboratory operations. The role involves receiving and processing specimens, entering orders into LIS/HIS systems, and ensuring accurate specimen tracking and delivery to testing areas.

Hours are Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3pm, with per diem status and rotating holidays. A high school diploma is required, with one year of experience in healthcare preferred; familiarity with lab workflows and data entry is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 1 year of experience in a comparable healthcare setting preferred for external candidates.
• Laboratory, medical, biological and data entry skills are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Receive and scan patient samples into the Laboratory Information System (LIS/HIS).
• Process various laboratory specimens and prepare them for testing.
• Centrifuge, aliquot, and deliver specimens to the in-house or reference labs as needed.
• Document lab receipt of specimens and ensure accurate order entry and specimen tracking.
