The position is on Rikers Island, Per Diem with no billing duties and opportunities for professional collaboration and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Registered to practice medicine in the State of New York and have Federal DEA, BCLS or ACLS, and Infection Control Certification
• Medical Specialty License or Certification
• Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty
• 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, including residency
• Familiar with EHR

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness
• Evaluate need for consult services and submit prioritized consults
• Reviews all on island/off-island specialty consults and hospital returns
• Ensure standard of care is met and implement consultant recommendations
• Respond to emergencies and drills promptly
• Order radiology, labs, and EKGs and interpret results
• Provide clinical supervision for P.A.’s/N.P.’s with co-signatures
• Adhere to CHS policies and maintain compliance
• Attend mandatory in-services
• Maintain Employee Health requirements
