Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Per Diem Chaplain/Spiritual Caregiver to provide compassionate spiritual care to Hospice patients and their families in Alabama. The role requires education in pastoral care and at least two years in healthcare settings, plus endorsement with one’s faith group.

Responsibilities include guiding spiritual conversations, connecting patients to resources, and supporting staff within the IDG framework. Benefits and flexible scheduling accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or Bachelor's degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care, philosophy, religion or related discipline
• 2+ years of experience in a health care setting and/or related pastoral experience
• Documentation of endorsement or acceptable language per faith tradition
• Good standing with spiritual group with no ethical charges
• Valid driver’s license and accessible transportation

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual care to Hospice patients and families
• Lead spiritual conversations when appropriate and respect patient beliefs
• Utilize a wide range of spiritual resources and refer to local faith leaders as needed
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team and contribute to IDG discussions
• Offer spiritual and emotional support to Hospice staff when requested
