Jefferson Health is seeking a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist on a per diem basis to support call-outs and planned time off. Location involves working across Center City Philadelphia and Greenville, DE offices as needed, and collaborating with the laboratory team to ensure quality tissue processing and diagnosis.

The role requires embedding, microtomy, staining, and specialized techniques such as immunohistochemistry. HT(ASCP) or related credentials and 1–2 years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Associate’s degree in life science or applied science or HT(ASCP) certification with laboratory experience in lieu of a degree.
• 1–2 years’ experience preferred; student training accepted.

Aufgaben

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Performs histological procedures including embedding, cutting, and staining surgical, biopsy and anatomical tissues for light and fluorescent microscopic slide review.
• Recognizes deviation from expected results and analyzes and corrects problems to expedite diagnosis.
• Maintains reagents and equipment in proper quantities and condition; records instrument maintenance troubleshoots to ensure accurate test results.
• Uses computer equipment to receive and validate laboratory orders and transmit test data.
• Analyses and records QC data with follow-up; may implement corrective action after consultation with supervisory personnel.
• Communicates with clinical staff about specimen submission requirements and test results and methodology.
• Participates in orientation/training of new employees and students and continuing education programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
