Job summary

MelroseWakefield Healthcare seeks an experienced Public Safety Training Specialist to design and evaluate department training programs and safety drills. You will deliver CPR and AVADE programs, firearms safety, handcuffing, and other certified competencies to hospital staff, under general supervision.

The role requires maintaining certifications, coordinating drills with Public Safety leadership, and pursuing additional instructor certifications for future classes within Tufts Medicine

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Current CPR certification and CPR instructor certification.
• Massachusetts State Police Basic Firearms Safety Instructor Certification.
• Handcuff/restraint Instructor credentials from AVADE, ASP, or Tufts Medicine approved provider.
• OC Spray Instructor credentials from AVADE, ASP, SABRE, or Tufts Medicine approved provider.
• Two (2) years of experience providing safety, security, workplace violence prevention, or related training.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate Public Safety training programs for officers and hospital personnel.
• Develop and facilitate hospital safety and emergency preparedness drills and exercises.
• Coordinate drills with Public Safety leadership and hospital departments to evaluate procedures and readiness.
• Provide post-drill feedback and assist with corrective actions and follow-up education.
• Conduct CPR instruction, skills evaluations, and recertification.
• Conduct AVADE Active Shooter/Threat and related programs.
• Conduct firearms safety training and handling in accordance with department requirements.
• Maintain training records, certifications, and expiration dates.
• Attend instructor-development programs and obtain future certifications as directed.
