Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED/equivalent required, or five years of full-time healthcare experience.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy program preferred; or five years' active phlebotomy/MA experience.

Responsibilities

Receives assignment and performs duties according to established standards.
Performs phlebotomy tasks including venipuncture, finger sticks and heel sticks for patients of various ages.
Ensures patient safety, comfort, privacy and courteous treatment following safety protocols.
Reviews doctor scripts/requisitions in outpatient settings and matches tests in the system.
Assembles supplies, verifies patient identity, and labels specimens at bedside.
Maintains accurate records in the laboratory system and keeps work area clean and compliant with safety rules.
