Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher education accepted, or five years’ related healthcare experience.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy Program preferred; or five years’ full-time phlebotomy/MA experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives assignment and performs duties according to standards.
• Performs venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks for patients of various ages.
• Ensures patient safety, comfort, privacy, and uses AIDET principles.
• Reviews scripts/requisitions in outpatient settings and updates tests in the system.
• Identifies patient with two forms of ID and labels specimens at the chair/bedside.
• Fulfills stat/test requests promptly and accurately.
• Labels and stores specimens per protocol and disposes sharps safely.
• Maintains supplies and a clean, safe work area; protects patient confidentiality.
• Adheres to regulatory health requirements and professional conduct.
• Performs other department duties as required.
