Job summary

Eastchester Union Free School District seeks a Substitute Nurse on a per diem basis to provide health care across elementary and middle/high schools district-wide. Immediate vacancies exist with a per diem salary of $300 per day.

Qualifications

• Must hold New York State RN license with current registration.
• Knowledge of nursing principles and child development related to health issues.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to understand and follow technical, oral and written instructions.
• Familiarity with computer applications such as spreadsheets/word processing/calendar/email/database software.
• Good organization skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents and others.
• Good powers of observation and sound judgment.
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Managing students with chronic conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
• Providing first aid and crisis intervention for acute illnesses and emergencies to students/staff.
• Arranging for the safe transportation of sick/injured students/staff in emergencies.
• Providing emotional support to students in need.
• Administering medication (standing orders and PRN's).
• Screening students for vision, hearing and scoliosis or COVID-19.
• Interface with agencies regarding infectious disease protocols.
• Attending school trips with special needs children when needed.
• May perform catheterizations as required.
• Using computer applications (spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software) in performing work assignments.
• Ordering supplies for building health office.
• Assist with athletic clearances and new student screening/registration/COVID protocols.
• Other related assignments by District Administration.
