Job summary

Providence Country Day School in East Providence, RI, seeks a Substitute School Nurse to provide coverage for the School Health Office on an as-needed basis. The nurse will deliver comprehensive nursing care to students from Pre-K through Grade 12, respond to illnesses and emergencies, administer medications, and support students with chronic health conditions in a private, respectful manner.

Qualifications

• Current Rhode Island RN license in good standing.
• Experience in pediatric or school nursing is preferred.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of medication administration and emergency response.
• Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to stay calm and exercise sound clinical judgment in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing assessment, first aid, and care for students with illness or injuries.
• Respond to medical emergencies per school protocols.
• Administer medications per provider orders and school policy.
• Monitor students with chronic health conditions and follow health plans.
• Communicate with families and school staff about health concerns.
• Maintain confidential records of student visits and treatments.
• Keep the Health Office organized and stocked.
