Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Midstate Correctional Facility in Wrightstown, NJ. You will apply the nursing process to meet health care needs of inmates, with ambulatory care as a focus, under the correctional system framework.

The role requires NJ nursing licensure, CPR certification, and a willingness to work in an on-site correctional environment. Per diem status, with rotating shifts and standard 19-hour daily work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• RN license in New Jersey (state license).
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to inmates, including adolescents and adults.
• Perform nursing assessments in various care settings within the facility.
• Collaborate with health care professionals and corrections staff.
• Identify nursing goals and implement prescribed interventions.
• Plan care and refer as needed; delegate to team members as appropriate.
• Serve as team leader or charge nurse when needed.
