Job summary

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Midstate Correctional Facility in Wrightstown, NJ. The Staff Nurse uses the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

Responsibilities include direct and indirect nursing care across age groups, assessments, collaboration with health care professionals and security staff, and leading or guiding other

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current NJ nursing license is required.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license is required; must have own vehicle or reliable transport to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet residents' physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
• Perform resident assessments in various settings including intake, health care units, and infirmary.
• Collaborate with health care professionals and security officers in correctional environment.
• Identify nursing goals and implement prescribed interventions and solutions.
• As team leader or charge nurse, delegate duties and guide care delivery.
