Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Per Diem Chaplain to provide compassionate spiritual care across patient populations in its Evanston-area hospitals. The role supports patients, families, and staff with crisis response, end-of-life care, and ethical concerns.

You will triage requests, document visits, participate in team meetings, and help maintain 24/7 coverage as needed, adhering to APC/NACC/NAJC ethics and hospital safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; Minimum 1 year of theological education

Responsibilities

• Provide care aligned with patient needs: spiritual, emotional, and religious support to patients and families.
• Deliver timely, person-centered spiritual care and crisis support per department policies.
• Serve as backup to fulltime Chaplains to maintain 24/7 spiritual care coverage.
• Triage and manage multiple requests; document visits in electronic records.
• Engage in regular rounding and participate in interdisciplinary patient care meetings.
• Adhere to APC/NACC/NAJC ethics and hospital safety standards.
• Work shifts including weekends/holidays; support life and work of Spiritual Care team.
