Job summary

UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill seeks a per diem Chaplain to provide direct pastoral care to patients, families and staff, with on‑call hours and a focus on patient safety. The chaplain will respond to pages and EPIC consults, participate in overnight on‑call schedules, document encounters, and complete required LMS modules and health requirements.

Required qualifications include a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent, ACPE CPE, and ordination preferred but not required; state

• Masters of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent required or preferred.
• ACPE CPE unit completed or in process.
• Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral care to patients, families, and staff during assigned on-call shifts with attention to patient safety.
• Participates in overnight on-call schedule, responding pastorally to deaths, codes, follow-ups, and referrals; may lead worship services.
• Responds to pages, referrals, and EPIC consults during shift, including traumas, deaths, and codes.
• Leaves referrals for other chaplain staff for ongoing issues.
• Documents pastoral care encounters in EPIC and department log.
• Completes LMS modules and Employee Health requirements by the deadline.
• Must work at least one on-call shift per quarter.
