Qualifications

• Current certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory therapist.
• Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a licensed respiratory therapist.
• Current certification through Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist or the National Certification in Tobacco Treatment Practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the Department.
• Ensure complete understanding of equipment, supplies, indications, and contraindications.
• Assess physiological effects upon the patient.

Skills

Pulmonary Function testing experience

Basic computer skills

BLS and ALS certifications

Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Education

Successful completion of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy/Cardiopulmonary Science
