Job summary

The Beacon City School District seeks motivated individuals to join our team as Per Diem Bus Drivers. The role involves operating a school bus to transport students and/or passengers with emphasis on safety and conduct.

Responsibilities include pre-trip checks, fueling, safety instruction, maintaining order on board, and potential first aid. Valid license required; training provided. Appointment through June 30, 2027; wage is $27.00/hour.

Qualifications

• Valid driver license (state varies) and will also train.
• Ability to operate school bus safely on regular and special schedules.
• Must pass NYS19A and DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operates a school bus on regular schedule and/or special occasions.
• Checks bus condition before trips and reports defects.
• Refuels vehicle and checks/maintains fuel levels.
• Instructs students and passengers on safety before entering/leaving the bus.
• Maintains orderly conduct of students or passengers on board.
• May clean interior and exterior of the vehicle.
• May administer first aid to students or passengers if needed.

BUS DRIVER

The Beacon City School District seeks motivated individuals to join our team as Per Diem Bus Drivers.

Position Overview

This work involves the operation of an automotive vehicle used to transport students and/or passengers. The operator is responsible for the safety and conduct of the passengers.

Responsibilities

• Operates a school bus or other bus on regular schedule and/or on special occasions
• Checks the operating condition of the bus before starting on a trip
• Reports any mechanical defect to immediate superior
• Checks and fills vehicle with fuel
• Instructs students or adult passengers about safety practices when entering and/or leaving bus
• Maintains orderly conduct of students or adult passengers while on bus
• May clean interior and exterior of assigned vehicle
• May be required to administer first aid to students or adult passengers injured on bus

• Personal characteristics necessary to perform the duties of the position
• Must pass Physical Performance Test
• Must be able to meet all NYS19A requirements
• Must meet all DOT/19A requirements

Schedule & Appointment

• Flexible work schedule tailored to district needs and the employee’s availability
• Appointment through June 30, 2027
• Opportunities exist for employees with strong performance to move into roles with more consistent schedules

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid appropriate level Driver License or Commercial Driver License at the time of appointment (varies by appointing authority). Will also train.

$27.00/hour

Candidates must pass NYSED School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test and Background Check per NY State Requirements.
