The Per Diem Behavior Technician will provide ABA therapy to children ages 2-12 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental and language delays in a center setting. They will be expected to work a per diem or as-needed schedule that can vary weekly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct 1:1 therapy with clients
- Follow the prescribed skill acquisition and behavior support plan
- Collect and record data
- Write therapy notes for each session using an electronic medical records system
- Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding the client’s progress as instructed by the child’s assigned Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Assist the BCBA in preparing and organizing client materials as instructed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
- Maintain client safety and confidentiality
- Attend required trainings to maintain and acquire functional and technical knowledge
- Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and follow BACB guidelines
- Contribute to a positive working environment
Requirements
Per Diem Behavior Technician Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required (High School Diploma with RBT certification and experience can be used in lieu of a 4-year degree)
- RBT certification
- At least 6 months of experience working in ABA as a behavior technician
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Detail-oriented
- Flexible and adaptable to team and client needs
- Act with integrity and professionalism
Physical and Basic Requirements:
- Lift and carry clients weighing at least 30 pounds
- Restrain, hold, transport, and perform quick body movements as per Behavior Support Plan
- Assume and maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, etc.) for extended periods
- Walk and run to chase clients while maintaining a three-foot distance
- Sit on the floor or stand for extended periods
- Attend to basic needs (feeding, toileting, dressing)
- Perform manual dexterity tasks for data collection and documentation
- Read and comprehend written communication via computer and paper
- Transfer written data to electronic systems
- Maintain prolonged periods working on a computer or on the floor
- Assemble, clean, and maintain therapy space and materials
- Administer medication to clients as needed
