Description
The Per Diem Behavior Technician will provide ABA therapy to children ages 2-12 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental and language delays in a center setting. They will be expected to work a per diem or as needed schedule that can vary weekly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct 1:1 therapy with clients
- Follow the prescribed skill acquisition and behavior support plan
- Collect and record data
- Write therapy note for each session using an electronic medical records system
- Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding the client’s progress as instructed by the child’s assigned Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Assist the BCBA in preparing and organizing client materials as instructed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
- Maintain client safety and confidentiality
- Maintain and acquire functional and technical knowledge by attending required trainings
- Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and follow the guidelines set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Contribute to a positive working environment
Requirements
Per Diem Behavior Technician Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required (High School Diploma with RBT certification and experience can be used in lieu of 4 year degree)
- RBT certification
- At least 6 months of experience working in ABA as a behavior technician
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the team and clients.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism.
Per Diem Behavior Technician Basic & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry clients who are least 30 pounds
- Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Support Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures including kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, bending, for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to walk and run to chase clients and maintain a three-foot distance at all times
- Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to attend to basic needs such as feeding, diapering, toileting, and dressing
- Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection and session documentation
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication though computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
- Must be able to take written data and transfer to electronic files or data base systems
- Must be able to maintain prolonged periods of working on a computer while sitting at a desk or on the floor
- Must be able to assemble, clean and maintain therapy space including toys and furniture
- Must be able to administer medication to clients
