Job summary

UC Irvine Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Blood Donor Center. The role involves setting up and performing apheresis and whole blood collections, identifying donor reactions, and intervening as needed.

Education and follow-up care for patients and donors are required, using the Nursing Process. The position requires CA RN licensure and a BSN for external candidates, with flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays across three locations: Campus, Medical

Qualifications

• RN with California license
• Must have BSN for external candidates
• Experience with apheresis or hemodialysis procedures preferred
• Knowledge of infection control techniques required
• Flexible hours and locations including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to communicate effectively in English

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform apheresis and whole blood collection procedures
• Identify donor reactions and intervene appropriately
• Educate patients/donors and provide follow-up care using the Nursing Process
• May act as charge nurse in one or more areas as needed
