Job summary

Impellam Group is seeking an IT Tech Lead to drive a PeopleSoft/PeopleTools upgrade and related delivery of upgraded capabilities. You will solve complex problems, assign work, and provide leadership across application areas with minimal supervision.

The role requires strong SQL, design, and communication skills, with experience in leading SMEs and coordinating vendor interactions. Expect oversight of multi-project efforts and adherence to enterprise standards.

• Lead system design sessions and code walkthroughs as SME/Tech Lead.
• Mentor IT Application Analysts and coordinate cross-team work.

Job description

This is a versatile IT Tech Lead that may perform work related to delivery of upgraded capabilities within a PeopleSoft/PeopleTools Upgrade. Workers at this level solve complex problems, manage work including giving work assignments, and provide leadership to others in application areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for unreviewed work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead troubleshooting to the most complex issues and lead others to implement fixes to systems and applications that require significant freedom of action and sound judgment
• Demonstrate the ability to visualize long-term results and asset impacts on a system-wide basis
• Communicate appropriate information including downtimes, change management, status, issues, and defects to users, IT management at the highest levels, and any other necessary audience
• Present information on technically complex subjects in an understandable manner in both oral and written form
• Work with vendors to implement projects and/or support applications and solutions
• Utilize waterfall and agile methodologies to develop and maintain applications
• Work on projects as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and/or developer/Technical Lead
• Coordinate routine maintenance for emergency patches, service packs, and upgrades for assigned applications/projects
• Work with operations/DBAs on maintenance activities
• Design solutions based on defined requirements and lead others to the development and implementation of those designs
• Program and direct other programmers in required programming languages, database SQL, report writing, ETL, etc.
• Assist with testing and migrating code through test regions
• Ensure adherence to appropriate design, coding, and source control standards
• Lead system design and code walk-throughs as a presenter or reviewer
• Process Change Requests and Quality Assurance (QA) documentation for project implementations and support changes
• Recommend IT process enhancements and standards related to areas of assignment
• Coach and mentor other IT Application Analysts
• Lead corporate and division level initiatives
• Assist management with strategic or tactical planning as needed
• Manage team members' day-to-day work assignments based on application pipeline reports, individual work queues, skills, and schedules

Requirements - education & experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline. In lieu of a degree, 15+ years of related business experience. Work experience in addition to degree: 10+ years as an IT Application Analyst or equivalent to PeopleSoft and specifically experience with PeopleTools FCM upgrades.
