Job summary

Wayve seeks a People Operations Associate to build and run the operational backbone for our Japan team from Tokyo. You will cover onboarding through offboarding, HRIS administration, attendance, payroll coordination with providers, and benefits coordination, partnering with external providers and managers.

The role requires at least 1 year in People Operations or HR admin, fluent Japanese (N1+) and strong English, and a passion for improving processes in a fast-growing startup environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience in People Operations or HR admin.
• Knowledge of Japanese HR administration including payroll and social/labour insurance.
• Enjoys improving processes beyond routine tasks.
• Able to manage several tasks in parallel and prioritise effectively.
• Strong communication with employees, managers and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: handle offers/contracts, collect documents, Day 1 setup, probation management.
• Offboarding: support leaver processing, final pay, certificates, equipment return, access removal.
• HRIS administration: maintain data, manage leaves, generate reports, monitor PTO.
• Working hours: reconcile attendance, monitor 36-Agreement, approvals.
