Job summary

Outside Brands seeks a Director of Human Resources to lead people-focused HR across outdoor recreation, boating, and hospitality operations. You’ll build trust with employees and managers, guide talent strategy, and balance advocacy with business needs.

You will own recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, policy maintenance, and compliance, steering HR initiatives with the CFO and executive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business management, or related field; 3–5 years HR experience or training.
• Strong employee-relations, performance-management, coaching, and conflict-resolution experience.
• Demonstrated emotional intelligence, discretion, sound judgment, and ability to build trust.
• Working knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and HR best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with HRIS platforms; Paylocity is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce across locations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees at all levels within Outside Brands.
• Build relationships across departments and locations to gauge morale and dynamics.
• Proactively identify and address employee-relations issues before escalation.
• Coach managers through difficult conversations, performance issues, and development.
• Advise senior leadership on employee concerns, talent strategy, and HR matters.
• Oversee investigations, ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling.
• Lead recruiting, interviewing, offers, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
• Manage performance management, quarterly touch bases, and reviews.
• Research compensation trends and support annual pay reviews with CFO.
• Administer benefits, PTO, 401(k), profit sharing, and benefits communications.
• Oversee biweekly payroll and timecard processing.
• Maintain Employee Handbook, HR policies, records, and documentation.
• Stay current on employment laws and HR best practices.
• Support recognition, milestones, and engagement programs.
