Job summary

The Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, TX seeks a Director of People & Culture to lead HR strategy and partner with the CEO and senior leaders to build an engaging, high-performing, inclusive workplace.

This role directs talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, leadership development, performance management, compensation strategy, and culture initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Center's mission and values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in HR, business, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive HR experience with strategic partnership.
• Experience in nonprofit, arts, or mission-driven organizations.
• Professional certification preferred (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, SPHR).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Coach CEO and leadership on organizational effectiveness and workforce planning.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning across all roles including union/exec.
• Foster culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Oversee compensation strategy, performance management, employee relations, and employee engagement.
