Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Durham, NC is seeking a Director of People & Culture to lead HR across multiple sites. You will own employee relations, compliance, and HR operations, reporting to the CEO, with hands-on authority to address sensitive matters and build scalable systems.

The role drives onboarding, performance, leave, and reporting standards; develops a career path to retain talent; coaches managers through difficult conversations; champions SERVE values and a proactive, data-driven HR function.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive HR experience with ownership of complex employee relations
• Experience supporting multi-site, field-based, or distributed workforce
• Multi-state employment law knowledge (wage & hour, classification, leave, etc.)
• Proven experience leading and developing HR teams with standardized processes
• Experience fostering culture transformation across an organization
• Hands-on HRIS ownership; ADP experience preferred
• Skilled at coaching managers on performance, accountability, and HR practices
• Ability to build and standardize core HR processes balancing consistency with site needs
• Good judgment under pressure in high-tension situations
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field; willingness to travel

Responsibilities

• Own HR operations across sites: onboarding, offboarding, performance, and leave standardization
• Build and coach an HR team with a consistent hiring process
• Translate leadership direction into practical manager guidance and conversations
• Develop a career path framework to improve talent retention
• Act as culture ambassador to advance SERVE values
• Manage employee relations end-to-end with documentation and legal defensibility
• Ensure multi-state wage/hour, classification, I-9, and E-Verify compliance
• Collaborate with Safety and Operations on OSHA records and return-to-work processes
• Provide data-driven insights to leadership to mitigate people risks
