Job summary

Delta Defense, LLC is looking for a People Business Partner who will own talent strategy and act as an embedded operator shaping org design and workforce planning for assigned business units. You will coach managers through difficult employee conversations while driving cross-functional HR initiatives.

Based at our West Bend, WI headquarters, this on-site role requires partnering with leaders across functions, delivering programs, and using data to guide decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
• 2+ years of experience with human resources functions.
• A business mindset — you understand how People decisions move the P&L, not just the org chart.
• Confidence owning complex employee relations situations end-to-end.
• A track record of influencing leaders, not just advising them.
• Ability to operate at both altitudes — strategy and execution — without dropping either.
• Comfort building the plane while flying it, in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Demonstrated alignment with Delta Defense's Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Own resolution of complex employee relations issues, coaching managers through real human situations.
• Drive succession planning, talent development, and hiring strategy for business units.
• Shape the structure of new and evolving roles, in partnership with Total Rewards.
• Lead and localize core People programs (performance reviews, engagement, benefits enrollment, self-service tools).
• Use HR data to identify issues and present actionable recommendations to leaders.
• Support internal People Ops team to ensure consistent execution of processes.
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional People projects.

Position Summary

The People Business Partner owns the talent strategy for their assigned business units — not as an advisor on the sidelines, but as an embedded operator who shapes how those teams are built, led, and developed. This role sits at the intersection of strategic partnership and hands‑on execution: shaping org design and workforce planning one day, coaching a manager through a hard employee conversation the next.

What You'll Own

• Business partnership — Serve as the primary People point of contact and trusted advisor for leaders and employees across assigned functions (Marketing, IT, Legal, Finance), driving organizational design, workforce planning, and team effectiveness decisions.
• Employee relations — Own resolution of complex employee relations issues, coaching managers through the real, messy, human situations — not just pointing them to policy.
• Talent strategy — Drive succession planning, talent development, and hiring strategy for your business units, identifying and onboarding new talent as part of a broader workforce plan.
• Org & role design — Shape the structure of new and evolving roles, including compensation positioning and competency requirements, in partnership with Total Rewards.
• Program leadership — Lead and localize execution of core People programs (performance reviews, engagement, benefits enrollment, self‑service tools) for your business units, translating company‑wide strategy into something leaders and employees actually understand and use.
• Insight‑driven action — Use HR data and trends to identify issues before they become problems, and bring recommendations, not just observations, to leaders.
• HR for HR — Extend the same partnership model to the internal People Ops team, supporting consistent execution of people processes within the department.
• Cross‑functional projects — Lead or contribute to People‑led projects of varying scope, spanning HR and the broader business.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
