Job summary

Chicago Magnesium Casting and Midwest Aerospace Casting, LLC. is seeking a production operator to handle surface treating and penetrant tasks for magnesium and aluminum castings.

You will follow strict safety procedures, mix acids, and manage waste while achieving consistent finishes. The role requires on-the-job training with certification incentives and a focus on quality control, procedure adherence, and timely reporting of processed quantities.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills and ability to read and understand procedures.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow safety rules.
• Must pass Vision test.
• Surface Treat certification within 90 days of employment.
• Penetrant Level 1 certification or progression.

Responsibilities

• Surface Treat: Scan in/out on jobs and report processed quantities.
• Wear PPE and keep area clean and safe at all times.
• Understand customer requirements and scrap challenges; deliver quality work.
• Review material, sign off routing information, perform tasks per standards.
• Blast castings to uniform appearance; remove grit and sand.
• Process aluminum and magnesium castings through acids; protect with PPE.
• Neutralize waste and change acids per specs; ensure uniform finish.
• Document required tests and inspect materials when applicable.
• Penetrant: Dip, dry, develop castings; prep for inspection; learn pass/fail decisions.
