Job summary

Chicago Magnesium Casting and Midwest Aerospace Casting, LLC. is seeking a shop-floor operator to properly clean castings using grinders and blending tools to meet customer specs. Responsibilities include accurate job scanning, safety, and adherence to routing and quality standards.

Experience with grinding operations, reading procedures, and maintaining a clean work area is essential. On-the-job training leading to certification will be provided, with emphasis on catching defects and delivering

Qualifications

• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read and understand all procedures required to perform assigned tasks.
• Must pass Vision Test.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
• Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
• Understand customer requirements, internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, and impact on work quality and efficiency.
• Review and inspect all material used, building self-inspection into everything produced.
• Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information.
• Perform tasks efficiently according to standards.
• Use grinding wheels to remove ingate and riser pads.
• Blend surfaces to 250 finish using grinders and blending tools.
• Complete routing, sign and date and fill out production paperwork and inspection procedures.
• Follow job orders and instructions for finishes, dimensions, tolerances, number of parts, fixtures and wheels used.
• Maintain tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, safe manner.
• Clean work area during the day as required.
• Report problems or discrepancies to supervisor.
