Job summary

Henry Ford College in Dearborn seeks a Professional Math Tutor (Peer Tutor Plus) to provide individualized and small-group tutoring to students across listed subjects. The role emphasizes strong subject‑matter knowledge and helping students strengthen learning strategies and understand course material.

This is a part-time role with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Appointments renew each semester; compensation is determined by degree level.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and/or 60+ college credits within the target program/subject.
Ability to listen, interpret and respond to students in a learning setting.
Ability to tutor students individually and in small groups across multiple courses.
Willingness to learn and apply software packages used in supported courses.
Enthusiasm, patience, and a desire to help others succeed.

Responsibilities

Provide in-person tutoring for Henry Ford College courses in math and related subjects.
Tutor students individually and in small groups to develop understanding and skills.
Support students in areas of weakness with appropriate academic guidance.
Collaborate with Learning Lab staff and other departments to deliver workshops and study sessions.
Deliver knowledge effectively in a computer-lab classroom and demonstrate appropriate use of technology.
