South Piedmont Community College is seeking a part-time tutor to assist students by clarifying course content and modeling effective study strategies. The tutor will support students in Academic Support Centers across Polkton, Monroe, and Wadesboro campuses.
The role requires meeting with tutees, consulting with instructors, and conducting sessions in person or online while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
This position facilitates student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and by promoting and modeling the use of appropriate study strategies.
Under no circumstances should a tutor do a student’s work for him or her, provide copies of specific exams or quizzes previously given by the professor, write papers, review books, or prepare work for a student. A tutor may guide, direct, and offer assistance in organizing a paper or preparing for an exam, including discussing the types of questions usually asked on an exam, but the student must do his or her own work. The tutor may cancel and/or terminate the tutoring relationship if the tutee presses the tutor to do his or her work.
