Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean of Academic Support, Peer tutors facilitate learning among class peers by helping to clarify specific course content and promote the use of appropriate study strategies. Tutors may consult with faculty for course resources, guidance, and direction in their tutoring work. Tutors host regularly scheduled weekly drop-in sessions outside of class or clinic hours.
Peer tutors do not provide answers to homework assignments but rather work with students to model problem solving strategies and explain course-specific concepts in compliance with university academic integrity standards.
Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
