Job summary

Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona campus, seeks a Community Liaison to represent the College of Optometry with community-based organizations. The position supports outreach and education on health literacy and community programs, with approximately 3 hours of work per week.

Qualifications include active enrollment in the College of Optometry in good standing and FWS eligibility, FAFSA on file, and unmet financial aid. This is a hands-on, part-time role at the Pomona campus.

Qualifications

Provide education programs to community groups.

Locate appropriate educational materials from a variety of sources including online resources and health care agencies.
Develop educational materials such as PowerPoint presentations and handouts.
Performs other duties as assigned by the University/College.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Outreach, to represent the College of Optometry to community-based organizations

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

The ability to effectively, professionally and tactfully interact and communicate with community partners and members of the public
The ability to manage projects and assignments in an efficient and effective manner
Proficiency using Microsoft Office, the internet and email.

Required Qualifications

Education

Student enrolled in the College of Optometry in good academic standing
Student must meet Federal Work Study ( FWS ) qualifications, which are:
- Upon hire, ability to provide proof of ability to work in U.S.
- Must have a completed current FAFSA .
- Must have remaining financial aid unmet need.
- Must be in good academic standing at Western University of Health Sciences.

The employee is occasionally the employee is exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in this setting is usually moderate due to telephone calls, equipment, and normal patient and student traffic.
