Job summary

CommQuest seeks a Full-time, Part-time, and PRN Peer Supporter to assist substance use clients in Withdrawal and Recovery Services. The Peer Supporter uses lived experience to help clients engage in treatment and gain independence in recovery, serving as a role model within the clinical team.

You'll identify barriers to care, provide outreach, and support clients from intake through ongoing recovery. This position offers meaningful community impact and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Ability to complete and obtain Certified Peer Recovery certification.
• Personal lived experience with behavioral health or addiction recovery; navigate community resources.

Responsibilities

• Identify up to three top Social Determinants of Health barriers for clients.
• Provide a seamless handoff to ensure continued service delivery engagement.
• Receive referrals from cross-system partners for high-risk individuals.
• Engage with clients in person and in the community to facilitate engagement in services.
• Share personal recovery experience to offer hope and understanding.
• All other duties as assigned.

Peer Support Specialist

CommQuest seeks a Full-time, Part-time, and PRN (on-call/as needed) Peer Supporter to support our substance use clients in the Withdrawal and Recovery Services programs. The Peer Supporter performs a wide range of tasks to assist peers (clients) with gaining independence and ownership over their recovery process. They are a role model for persons with a substance use disorder, mental health disorder, or both (co-occurring). Peer Support helps clients and potential clients address barriers related to employment, housing, social support, transportation, etc. By sharing their lived experience, the Peer Supporter helps clients take their first steps toward recovery fully engage in treatment. They are one peer helping another.

Peer Supporters meet individuals at the beginning of their treatment journey and provide support as clients embrace their recovery needs. They assess for barriers to treatment and partner with clients to remove those barriers. The Peer Supporter is an integral part of the clinical team.

Services are individualized and relationship based. They respect diversity (there are many pathways to recovery) and demonstrate that recovery is possible.

What you'll do:

• Work with individual seeking services to identify up to three (3) top social determinants of health (SDOH) barriers to engaging in services.
• Work with individuals and their ongoing treatment providers to provide a 'hot handoff' to ensure continued service delivery engagement.
• Receive referrals from cross-system partners for individuals that the referral source has identified as high risk for non-engagement to assist with engaging in services or having high SDOH needs.
• Provide outreach and active engagement in person and in the community to people referred/identified.
• Share their own experience with behavioral health when appropriate with the person referred to create an understanding of a common experience and provide hope.
• All other duties as assigned

Schedule:

Dayshift; some evenings, weekends, & holidays as needed

Fill-Time, Part-time, and PRN (on-call/as needed) available.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Must have a valid drivers license and insurance.

• This position requires having personal, lived experience with behavioral healthcare services, and in mental health or addiction recovery; experience navigating community systems and be knowledgeable about available resources and services available within the community.
• Must be recovery focused and have a strong desire to help others; serving as a positive role model.
• Must have the ability to work in a variety of settings (homes, neighborhoods, service systems, etc.) and maintain a flexible schedule to be available, as needed.
