Qualifications

  • Internship or training in peer advocacy completed.
  • Experience providing advocacy services to people who are mentally ill or homeless.
  • Past or current recipient of mental health, substance services or homeless services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to recipients' residences to provide supportive services.
  • Counsel recipients on plans for meeting service needs and mobilize resources.
  • Educate about self-help techniques and self-help group processes.
  • Teach coping strategies based on personal experience.
  • Assist in clarifying rehabilitation and recovery goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate individual case records.
  • Refer recipients to community resources and accompany to appointments.
  • Advocate for recipients with outside providers and within ICL.
  • Report serious incidents and complete incident reports per policy.
  • Attend clinical meetings and ongoing trainings.
