Job summary

Recovery Innovations in Durham, NC seeks a Peer Support Specialist II to provide recovery training and support to individuals in services. You will help implement a recovery environment and advocate for participant rights while assisting with resume building, job searching and recovery planning.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Peer Employment Training and certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of full-time behavioral health experience.
• Experience in community navigation, resume writing, curriculum development and family peer support.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to drive in the community.
• Must pass de-escalation training.

Responsibilities

• Provides coaching and mentoring to peer support staff through role modeling and guidance.
• Mentors new team members and facilitates professional development.
• Provides support for participant wellness, groups and recovery activities.
• Ensures program elements and expectations are met.
• Provides peer support to engage participants in a recovery partnership and assists in goal planning.
• Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
• Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, environment, meaning).
• Aids participants with resume building, job searching and recovery planning.
• Provides recovery support services in partnership with the team.
