Job summary

Unity Family Services is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) to provide peer support in emergency, outpatient or inpatient settings throughout the community. The CPS will model recovery skills, advocate for clients, and help navigate health and social services while working under supervision.

The role is non-clinical and requires collaboration with the Peer Support Supervisor and Clinical Director to support client goals, coping strategies, and community reintegration.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Peer Support and recovery principles, values, and practice.
• Completion of state approved Peer Specialist Certification.
• Must pass initial and random drug tests.

Responsibilities

• Provide Peer Support Services in various settings (group homes, provider agencies, drop-in centers, community, home).
• Establish positive relationships, build trust, and maintain rapport with clients.
• Collaborate with supervisors to define CPS role in supporting recovery.
• Advocate for clients and help navigate health and social service systems.
• Assist clients to identify resources, set goals, and develop skills; create Wellness Recovery Action Plans.
• Review and update recovery goals and facilitate peer support groups.
