Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare in Harford County, Maryland, operates the Joppa Inpatient program, offering treatment pathways for men and women dealing with substance use disorders, including methamphetamine and other stimulant use, co-occurring disorders, and a methadone maintenance program.

The Peer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting individuals in developing and solidifying long-term recovery supports, providing services before, during, and after their engagement in the treatment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and support individuals in recovery.
  • Understanding of recovery principles and behavioral health services.
  • Ability to problem-solve and respond appropriately to client needs.
  • Ability to manage crisis or high-risk situations effectively.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support services using lived experience to enhance client recovery and engagement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team members and community partners to support client care and recovery planning.
  • Assist clients in establishing connections with community resources and ongoing support systems.
  • Maintain regular contact with referral sources as directed.
  • Prepare and complete concurrent reviews and communications with referral sources, as assigned and applicable.
  • Document all client and collateral contacts in the medical record timely and accurately.
  • Participate in peer record review processes and quality assurance activities.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with staff across all disciplines.
  • Keep supervisors informed of client progress, concerns, and service needs.
  • Provide transportation for clients to access community-based resources and services as needed.
  • Participate in emergency service coverage as assigned, including after-hours support, crisis planning, hospital diversion, and commitment procedures.
  • Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality regarding all company information.
  • Complete all required training as designated by the company and licensing/accreditation entities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, first shift with some weekends included.

JOB SUMMARY:

PAY RATE:

$17/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide peer support services using lived experience to enhance client recovery and engagement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team members and community partners to support client care and recovery planning.
