Qualifications

  • Maryland credentials or trainee status required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform biopsychosocial assessments and evaluate client needs.
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans with the team.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups and evidence-based interventions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR system.
  • Coordinate care with referral sources and external providers.

Are you passionate about helping individuals overcome substance use and mental health challenges? Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Counselor to join our clinical team at our Harford County Inpatient Treatment Facility in Joppa, Maryland.

As a Counselor, you will provide comprehensive clinical services to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders, co‑occurring mental health conditions and other behavioral health concerns. Working alongside an interdisciplinary treatment team, you will support clients through every stage of the recovery process by helping them develop the skills, coping strategies and support systems necessary to achieve long‑term wellness and sustained recovery.

What You’ll Do

As a Counselor, you will:

  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments and evaluate the behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and social needs of clients.
  • Develop, implement and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide individual counseling, group counseling, family sessions and psychoeducational programming.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups utilizing evidence‑based practices and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and compliant clinical documentation within the electronic health record.
  • Coordinate care with referral sources, medical providers, community agencies and external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case reviews.
  • Assist with utilization review processes and continued‑stay authorizations.
  • Support discharge planning, aftercare coordination, relapse prevention planning and continuity of care efforts.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and level‑of‑care determinations as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support for clients experiencing acute behavioral health concerns.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and other program responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in accordance with ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Complete all required trainings and maintain compliance with company, licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Candidates Must Possess One Of The Following Maryland Credentials
  • Maryland Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT)
  • Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
  • Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC)
  • Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC)
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Licensed Certified Social Worker‑Clinical (LCSW‑C)
  • Any active trainee status, certification or professional licensure recognized by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists or the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or specialized training in:
  • Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment
  • Residential or inpatient treatment settings
  • Co‑occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Trauma‑Informed Care
  • Relapse Prevention Planning
