Job summary

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate Peer Support Specialist to provide meaningful support to clients with behavioral health needs. You will use lived experience to guide clients through services, advocate for their goals, and help them access resources.

A collaborative clinical team will support your efforts as you build strong, confidential relationships. You will travel within the community to partner sites, work with families, and participate in team meetings

Qualifications

  • Lived experience with behavioral health challenges and/or mental health diagnosis.
  • Strong communication, active listening, and engagement skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with clients and families.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to travel locally to different sites and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hope, encouragement, and practical support to clients using shared lived experience.
  • Offer one-on-one peer consultation to help clients identify goals.
  • Support clients as they work toward goals and advocate for themselves.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while building trusting relationships.
  • Assist clients and families in accessing behavioral health services and community resources.
  • Complete documentation in the electronic health record accurately and on time.

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, supportive, and relationship-focused Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This position provides meaningful peer support to clients who are experiencing behavioral health challenges and/or mental health needs.

Using your lived experience, you will walk alongside clients as they navigate behavioral health services and other systems of care. You will help clients identify their goals, connect with resources, advocate for their needs, and build confidence in accessing the support available to their themselves and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use shared lived experience to provide hope, encouragement, and practical support to clients receiving services.
  • Provide one-on-one peer consultation to help clients and/or caregivers identify goals and navigate systems of care.
  • Walk alongside clients as they work toward their goals and advocate for themselves.
  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Help clients identify and strengthen natural supports and community connections.
Crisis Support & Care Coordination
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to engage families and crisis clients in recommended services.
  • Serve as a liaison and advocate for clients and caregivers who need peer support and assistance navigating services.
  • Help clients and families access behavioral health services, social supports , and community resources.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with service providers and community partners.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
  • Maintain proficiency in the electronic health record system.
  • Protect client and family confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and agency requirements.
  • Follow all Best Point policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Lived experience as someone who has experienced behavioral health challenges and/or a mental health diagnosis.
  • Strong communication, active listening, relationship-building, and engagement skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with clients and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to travel to other work locations and throughout the community.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable auto insurance required.
  • Flexible schedule with evening availability .
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow agency policies and procedures.

Pay: $20.00 per hour

This is a community-based position that may require working across office, community, school, and family settings. The Parent Peer Support Specialist may interact with families experiencing significant behavioral health challenges or crisis situations.

The position requires the ability to travel throughout the community and work collaboratively with families, clinical professionals, service providers, and community organizations. Evening availability is required based on the needs of the families served.
