Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking an On-call Peer Support Counselor in Victorville, CA to provide outreach, engagement and direct services. The role leverages lived experience to support clients and guide them toward recovery, adulthood, and meaningful roles beyond illness.

Responsibilities include advocacy, education and connecting clients with resources, while participating in a supportive CRT program that runs 24/7. Overnight shifts offered with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience as a consumer in child welfare, probation, or mental health systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.).
  • One year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services in relevant settings.
  • Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification preferred or ability to complete within 1 year.
  • California Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • First Aid certification from an approved provider or obtained on hire.

  • Provide outreach, engagement, support, advocacy and direct services to program clients.
  • Utilize lived experience and knowledge of system to assist clients in recovery and reintegration.
  • Serve as role models, educators and advocates for clients across age ranges.

Peer Support Counselors are people who have lived experience in the mental health, judicial, and/or social service systems in some capacity. They serve as role models, companions, educators and advocates to our clients.
