Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in California is seeking a Peer Support Counselor to provide community-based support to teens and young adults, mentoring, advocacy, and linkage to services within Fresno County.

The position is based in the community, Monday–Friday hours with flexible needs, offers starting pay of $20.63–$21.63 per hour, and a benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, CEU opportunities, and mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Personal experience as a consumer in the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems.
• Peer Support Specialist Certification must be achieved within one year of employment.
• A valid California Driver’s License and eligibility to meet agency driving criteria.

Responsibilities

• Provides community-based support services including mentoring, advocacy, skill development, and resource linkage.
• Collaborates with treatment team members and documents services in accordance with peer support scope of practice.

Job Title: Peer Support Counselor

Division/Program: TAY FSP

Starting Compensation: 20.63 - 21.63 USD Per Hour

Working Location: Community-based in Fresno County

Working Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday business hours. Working hours are approximate and may include flexibility as needed to meet client needs.

What you bring to SBHG?

• Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED, HiSET, etc.) required
• Personal experience as a consumer in the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems.
• License or Certification: Peer Support Specialist Certification: successful completion of the certification process within one year of employment
• A valid California Driver’s License and eligibility to meet agency driving criteria.

How you will make a difference:

• Provides community-based support services to clients and families, including mentoring, advocacy, skill development, and resource linkage.
• Collaborates with treatment team members, helps clients navigate behavioral health and community services, assists with communication and service coordination, and documents services in accordance with peer support scope of practice.

Division/Program Overview:

• Population Served (Capacity): Serves clients (ages 16-24)
• Facility & Setting: Outpatient community-based services and support.
• Delivers client services throughout Fresno County within designated county limits.
• May be required to transport clients/client family members utilizing personal vehicle.

Clinical Services (Core):

• Individual and family Counseling.
