Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean of Student Learning, to promote shared academic success among class peers participating in study groups.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Language ability to compose clear and concise reports.
The ability to effectively, professionally and tactfully interact and communicate with students, faculty, administrators and staff members as necessary.
The ability to manage projects and assignments in an efficient and effective manner
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
The ability to effectively gather information from a variety of sources, compile and analyze information
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Good organizational skills
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism

Required Qualifications

Education:

Student enrolled in the College of Optometry in good academic standing
Student must meet Federal Work Study (FWS) qualifications, which are:
- Must have a completed current FAFSA.
- Must have remaining financial aid unmet need.
- Must be in good academic standing at Western University of Health Sciences.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

Volunteerism and strong study skills preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule peer study group sessions. Book study rooms/locations.
Ensure the study group members’ rotation of roles.
Disseminate any notes or resources created within study groups to all members.
Assists with other program projects as assigned.
