Job summary

Eliot seeks a committed Peer Specialist for its Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS) division in Massachusetts. The role supports adults with severe mental illness in community and residential settings, emphasizing recovery, autonomy, and person-centered care.

Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for advocacy are essential. The position offers a Mon-Fri 8am-4pm schedule, competitive hourly pay, and a commitment to professional growth, including training and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Must have received Mental Health services in the past and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness and established recovery process.
• Must be a Certified Peer Specialist or must complete certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Empower Persons with mental illness to exercise autonomy in all aspects of their life.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the Person’s perspective is included and preferences recognized.
• Provide training and consultation to staff to facilitate understanding of Person perspectives as needed.
• Provide guidance to Persons in the recovery journey, advocacy, support, and education during intake and transition processes.
• Promote hope and empowerment through meetings and support with Persons.
• Participate in development of treatment plans and encourage Persons to participate in setting recovery goals.
• Ensure services are culturally competent, recovery-based, and centered on Person preferences.
