Job summary

Community Access in Bronx, NY seeks a Peer Specialist to join the Intensive Mobile Treatment team. The role utilizes lived experience to support participants in recovery and housing goals, working within a multi-disciplinary staff to provide trauma-informed care in community settings.

The Peer Specialist engages participants, builds trusting relationships, assists with goal setting, and connects clients to services across health, housing, and social supports.

Qualifications

• Understanding and commitment to Community Access mission.
• Lived experience in mental health system required; preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience in mental health, substance use, or trauma.
• Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Basic computer skills with MS Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support IMT participants in recovery goals and housing stability.
• Engage with participants and build trusting relationships.
• Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, social work and peers.
• Document interactions and progress notes per program standards.
