Job summary

Straight and Narrow, headquartered in Paterson, NJ, seeks a Peer Recovery Specialist (Women’s Program) to support clients in recovery within residential/outpatient settings and community programs.

Responsibilities include advocacy, mentoring, and education to help peers achieve wellness; duties cover engagement, event planning, MAT access, documentation, and coordination with families and partners. This is a full-time role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience.
• Active Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in NJ or within 6 months of licensure.
• Must have car and NJ driver's license with good driving history.
• Detail-oriented, flexible, able to work independently.
• Computer literate and able to type.

Responsibilities

• Build a supportive community for clients and families.
• Create and support social activities and positive environments.
• Assist clients in accessing Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) when applicable.
• Participate in events and trainings for clients, families, and caregivers.
• Encourage client leadership in the community.
• Help clients develop self-advocacy and recovery support networks.
• Coordinate with community resources to support transition from treatment.
• Advocate, mentor, educate, and uphold ethical service standards.
• Encourage attendance at AA/NA/GA meetings.
• Educate clients and families about relapse prevention when needed.
• Document psycho-educational sessions and other required records.
• Transport clients to activities when applicable.
• Other duties as assigned.
