Job summary

Prevention Links is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist for the Central New Jersey Region to support individuals in achieving personal recovery goals. The role emphasizes culturally competent, client-centered planning and coordination with treatment and recovery systems.

Responsibilities include developing Recovery Plans, guiding clients through stages of change, advocating for services, and maintaining thorough documentation. Evening/weekend availability and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Lived experience of addiction and recovery is preferred.
• NJ certified peer recovery specialist (CPRS) required or obtained within first 6 months.
• Degree in social work, human services, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop a Recovery Plan with measurable objectives and barriers.
• Educate individuals on navigating treatment and recovery systems.
• Provide recovery support based on individual needs and preferences.
• Support individuals through stages of change to encourage recovery.
• Assist accessing recovery services in the community.
• Complete required documentation and paperwork.
• Model hope and experiential knowledge for clients.
• Maintain relationships to aid treatment engagement.
• Encourage recovery built on strengths and resources.
• Help gain skills and resources to initiate/maintain recovery.
• Establish supportive social and physical environments.
• Promote engagement with the recovery community.
• Advocate for appropriate community treatment and recovery.
• Empower clients to self-direct their recovery paths.
• Provide in-person or telephone support per client choice.
• Attend trainings and team meetings.
• Participate in outreach efforts for Region.
• Other tasks as requested by Prevention Links management.
