Job summary

Steadfast Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist in Canton, OH. Your lived experience with substance use and recovery will guide treatment, as you join a multidisciplinary team to support clients on their recovery journeys.

You will provide peer-based support, share recovery insights, and help individuals access resources, education, and community services while upholding confidentiality and ethical guidelines. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with substance use and sustained recovery
• Active Peer Specialist certification in good standing
• Willingness to obtain NAADAC National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) within nine months of start date
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Knowledge of harm reduction strategies and recovery pathways
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Proficiency in documenting client interactions and using EHRs (preferred)
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality practices
• Bilingual abilities (Spanish or other languages) are a plus
• Must maintain active personal automobile insurance and provide proof upon hire and as requested

Responsibilities

• Provide peer-based support to individuals navigating substance use and recovery.
• Share lived experience and model self-directed change to inspire patients.
• Participate in daily patient huddles with clinicians to identify obstacles and inform intervention plans.
• Assist clients in developing personal wellness and harm-reduction plans.
• Facilitate peer-led support groups and one-on-one coaching sessions.
• Help individuals access harm-reduction tools, housing, employment, and community support.
• Educate clients on harm reduction strategies and overdose prevention.
• Advocate for clients across healthcare, housing, and social services.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress while upholding confidentiality.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines and trauma-informed care principles.
• Safely transport patients when necessary using a personal vehicle.
