Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Bayview is seeking a casual Peer Recovery Specialist to support individuals released from hospitalization or incarceration. The role focuses on linking clients to low-threshold treatment for substance use disorders and infectious diseases, while addressing housing, transportation, and health insurance access.

Collaborate with clinicians at Hopkins and community sites across Maryland to facilitate patient linkage to care and ongoing engagement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of related experience.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience.
• May require travel to intervention sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of clients using project-specific registries to ensure no one falls through the cracks.
• Engage referred participants using a standardized protocol and conduct initial evaluations for social determinants of health.
• Support care plans agreed upon by the treatment team and navigate resources for SUD and infectious disease care.
• Act as a bridge between clients and local resources, assisting with housing, insurance, transportation, and appointments.
• Collaborate with Hopkins and community-based sites across Maryland to promote engagement in care.
• Prepare for and participate in weekly treatment team meetings and document interactions within one business day.
