Job summary

Community for New Direction seeks a Recovery Support Specialist in Columbus, OH, to provide peer recovery services to individuals with severe mental illness. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have lived experience with a behavioral health diagnosis and peer specialist certification, plus two years of sobriety.
• Must be able to drive and have own transportation.
• Background check and pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Advocate and be a role model for peers to support recovery.
• Develop relationships with clients' healthcare providers to help achieve goals.
• Assist clients in accessing social services and monitor recovery progress.
• Assist clients with ADL skills (cooking, hygiene, budgeting, shopping).
• Provide transportation to appointments and community activities as needed.
• Facilitate recovery support groups and share information for wellness.
• Support diverse cultural backgrounds in regaining independence in the community.
• Encourage ongoing community involvement and self-advocacy.
• Attend Peer Support trainings and continue education as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Director and CEO.
